Barry was my closest friend, in high school. He was a complicated fellow, but was always upbeat, and quick with a smile and/or to crack a joke. Jere and I used to ride to school with him in his baby blue Barracuda, usually crankin' some Van Halen, Led Zeppelin or Heart. Some illegalities may have transpired within the confines of that beautiful molded metal, but fortunately, vehicles cannot talk (Herbie the Love Bug CAN communicate, but it is with a series of beeps, flapping parts and flashing lights - that IS NOT talking people)!!! Anyhoo, I digress......but what a PERFECT example of the very type of stupid conversation and banter, that Barry and I used to entertain ourselves with, within the confines of that beautiful machine! Everytime I see one of the new Challegers and/or Chargers, I think of Barry. Being as that we all attended Memorial, perhaps we should purchase (Dodge) Chargers for our driveways and garages, in memory of our dear friend, and as homage to our alma mater - double bonus -! (Again, I digess....)

Of course, like most high school friends and aquaintances, we lost touch, but re-connected, a few years ago, via Facebook. It was nice to catch up and re-establish our old friendship. Recently, I had assisted Barry (referred) in purchasing his (newest) home in Arkansas. It was on top of a mountain, quiet, and abundant with wildlife and nature. I know that Barry was very happy there. We talked about getting together (at his place on the mountain, for the weekend), but never got the chance to make that happen. Folks, don't put off that possible reunion, with an old friend, thinking "maybe another/next time". Barry and I will NEVER have that NEXT time.

As far as we know, Barry passed away peacefully in his sleep. He had a nice funeral out in Broken Arrow, and Marc Collins and Suzy Liggitt (Cunningham) were a big help to Barry's Mother, during the funeral and in taking care of his affairs. He was blessed to have such friends!

We will miss you, our friend.

Trev

Barry was also one of my closest friends in High School. Along with Trevor, Jere and his girlfriend, and Kathy (Barry's Girl) we were a party gang that just wanted to be free and catch the next party. I too would catch rides from Barry in his Barracuda, man I loved that car of his. I could always count on Barry to give me a ride to work or school or where ever if my car was down, or I couldn't use one of my parents cars. I would say, he was a complex guy in High school, he was an only child and had a different relasonships with his parents than most of my friends or me. I would go as far as to say that he was spoiled and got his way most of the time. I never knew him to really get in serious trouble with his parents, at least not like me or Trevor and Jere.

I lost touch with all my high school friends for many years but through Face Book got back in touch with some. Barry was one of the first friend and we shared a lot of stories with each other. I am privileged to have been one of his friends, and was sad that he left us to soon. Rest in peace Barry G.
